Give Him Praise, Get a Raise!
Get a Raise from Your Boss
We all let things slip once in a while, and our faith life is no different. It’s normal to go to God in the bad times and beg him to help us with our problems, but what about when things are going well? Do we give Him the glory? Or do we puff ourselves up to make us look better in front of others?
Normally, it’s the latter and we soon find ourselves struggling again. We scratch our heads. Our ten minutes is up and it’s back to dull, boring, stressful life. I know some people who have blamed God for their problems. “Well, if God wanted to save me from blah blah” and “God took away blah blah”. Do you really think blaming him is going to get you a raise?
Think about this. Suppose you went into your boss’ office and started berating him/her about all the extra work you got and then you had to give up your vacation days and you always come in on days even when you’re sick and then there’s the time you missed Johnny’s soccer game because you are so dedicated that you just couldn’t leave. Then you ask for a big old raise. What would you do if you were the boss of a person who acted like that? I’m not accusing anyone here because I have perhaps acted in this same selfish manner. “The glory is all about me me me so give me a raise!”
There is a news flash: The glory IS NOT about us! It’s about God. He wants us to do well and have victory before we take our “Final Retirement” with Him in heaven. He wants to give us a raise, but we have to pass the test first. We have to be able to handle what we have before we can have more. We can never have victory in this life when we play the blame game, especially when we blame Him. Look at Isaiah 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for MY glory;I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” Notice how it doesn’t say “your glory?” Earlier in this chapter of Isaiah it says that God will never leave us. Even if we walk through fire and raging waters-He will be there. It’s His glory. Not ours.
So the one sure way to get a raise today, is to say (out loud preferably) “God, I am sorry I blamed you. Please forgive me. It’s Your glory, not mine. You are my boss, and I want a raise, so I’m giving you the praise!”
Bosses have an extremely hard job of keeping their employees happy. God already did that through Christ Jesus who willingly died for you! All you need to do is draw on His power, call on the name of Jesus, and get a raise. Give God His glory, and keep near to your heart that all things are possible with God. Even when it’s tough, if you keep a right attitude with God, He will pull you through to the other side and there will be a reward waiting for us that even in our own little minds we cannot contain. He loves us! He wants us happy!
Give your Boss praise and get a raise.
